Setting up two factor authentication

Two-Factor authentication os an extra layer of security for your Webtemple account, we designed in order to ensure that you are the only person who can access your account, even if someone knows your password.

How it works

The default way you would sign in to a website requires you to know two things in order to prove your identity: your username and password. This is referred to as an identifying factor. You need to know something that only you would know, in order to prove your identity. Since usernames are easy to determine/guess, the only “secret” element would be your password. While this can be secure, if passwords are complex and changed frequently, this is not usually the case.

This is why two-factor authentication was introduced. With two factor authentication, you need to know something only you would know, and have something only you would have. And what is that something? That’s right – your phone. Upon entering your password, your phone will generate an additional passcode, which it will send to the server. The passcode is generated using a unique key, known only by your phone and our server. The passcode expires every 30 seconds and a new one is generated.
